Two quick strikes, one on the first defensive series of the first half, and another on the first play of the second half, helped Ashe County Middle School's Silver Bulldogs roll over the Wolverines from Watauga County.

Silver Bulldog's all-purpose athlete, Josh Wineburg, picked up a fumble during Watauga's opening possesion of the first half and rumbled seventy yards for a score just one minute and thirty-eight seconds into the ballgame. After a successful two-point conversion by tailback Eli Gamble, the Bulldog's took an early 8-0 lead. With Silver's leading rusing threat(Josh Wineburg) on the sidelines with a knee injury for the better part of the second quarter, Ashe simply held to their eight point lead going into halftime.

Quick strike number two came when Ashe's Jeff Martin opended the second half by taking Watauga's kick and streaking seventy-five yards down the sideline to put the Bulldogs up 16-0 eleven seconds into the third quarter.

Using a spread offensive nearly identical to the one used by Appalachian State, Watauga tried to take advantage of their speed by sending their receivers on quick slant routes, and running a spread option with QB Ethan Poulis. However, nothing seemed to work as Ashe matched up well with their speed and athleticism on defense.

Watauga would find the endzone twice but it wouldn't matter as Ashe went on to rack up thirty-two points.
