Playing For A Purpose
I jumped into a cart Saturday and photographed part of 13th Annual Carl Hagel Memorial Golf Tournament at Mountain Aire Golf Club. The tournament is held each year in the memory of current Moutain Aire Golf Club owner, Mark Hagel's father. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the 4-H Ashe Youth Connection.

Pioneers Pound East Burke

I covered Watauga's softball and soccer home games against East Burke last night. From what little bit I got to actually watch of the matchups, The Pioneers dominated both games and it was evident from the start that E. Burke didn't stand a chance. Watauga's softball team improved to 8-10 with their win, while the soccer team moved to 10-4-2 overall this season.

Chimney Fire

Amid falling snow, members of the Warrensville Fire Department work to put out a chimney fire at a residence on Elliott Road. Quick work by the fire department quenched the fire before it could cause any damage to the home.

Upward Mobility
Senoir Alex Wolfe (above) made the leap from Ashe County's No. 8 seed last season, all the way up to No. 1 this season. Amazed at Wolfe's progression, Husky head coach Logan Freeman noted that in his twenty-two years of coaching, he has never seen a player make such a stride in such a short period of time.
Wolfe will lead the Huskies against Oak Hill Academy, Monday night at Ashe County High School.
